Can I wear jewelry or hair accessories in a game?

Yes, under current NFHS rules:

• Jewelry: since 2023, the rule banning jewelry (former Rule 1-5-5) has been removed, so players may wear jewelry. The NFHS made the change to help officials enforce the rules consistently.
• Hair adornments: since 2022, players may wear hair adornments that don't present a risk to themselves, teammates or opponents. They no longer have to be made of soft material.
• Religious head coverings: Rule 1-4-5 (2021) gives direction on head coverings worn for religious reasons, aiming to protect religious freedom without increasing the risk of injury.
