To play in the World Wheelchair Curling Championships (WWhCC and WWhMDCC) and their qualifying events, a player must meet the eligibility criteria in the World Curling Classification Rules (Rules of Competition, Eligibility, item 8).
The Classification Rules (July 2022 edition, the version published on the World Curling website) say that World Curling only permits an athlete to compete in an international competition if the athlete has been allocated a Sport Class other than "Sport Class Not Eligible" and has a Sport Class Status (rule 1.9). They apply to all athletes in any wheelchair curling event organised, authorised or recognised by World Curling.
Age: for World Curling events other than Junior events and the World Senior Curling Championships, a player must be at least 16 years old by 30 June before the event (Eligibility item 6; athletes who played in a World Curling event before July 2024 must be at least 14). Team officials must be at least 16 by 30 June of the year before the competition (item 9).
Chairs: in wheelchair mixed doubles, electric wheelchairs are not allowed unless the athlete uses one for daily mobility (R15(c)).
