A score is acceptable when the round is (Rule 2.1):
- In an authorized format: individual or Four-Ball stroke play (including Stableford, Par/Bogey and Maximum Score) and individual or Four-Ball match play, in organized competitions or general play, over 9 or 18 holes (Rule 2.1a)
- At least the minimum number of holes (9 for a 9-hole score, 10 for an 18-hole score)
- Played under the Rules of Golf
- On a course with a current Course Rating and Slope Rating, during its active season
- Certified, so it's available for peer review
Team formats such as scrambles and foursomes aren't on the list of authorized formats, so those scores aren't posted.
Rules issues (Rule 2.1b): in general play, a score usually isn't acceptable if you broke a Rule without applying the penalty or deliberately ignored a Rule. In a competition, a disqualification that gave no significant scoring advantage can still leave the score acceptable, at the Committee's discretion.
