- A try is worth one point. It is scored when a player other than the half places the ball on or over the try line without being touched, with control of the ball before placing it.
- If a player puts the ball down short of the try line and releases it, they must perform a rollball and a touch is counted. If they do not release the ball from their hands, play continues and no touch is counted.
- At the end of play the team with the most tries wins. If neither team scores, or both score the same number, it is a draw.
- Drop-off (when a winner is required): each team reduces to four players within 60 seconds and restarts from the halfway line. The team that did not start the match with possession takes the tap. There is a two minute period of extra time, and a team leading at the end of it wins. If neither team leads, each team removes another player at the next touch or dead ball and play continues until a try is scored. There is no time off during the drop-off, and normal interchange rules apply.
- In a mixed drop-off, no more than two males may be on the field for a team.
