The Code of Conduct in Tennis Canada's Rules of the Court 2026 applies to all players in all tournaments sanctioned by Tennis Canada or a provincial or territorial tennis association. It also applies to a player's support team (coach, trainer, manager, family members, guests). It applies everywhere in the tournament environment (facility, hotel and so on), not just on court.
Violations include, but are not limited to:
- ball abuse and racquet or equipment abuse
- physical abuse and verbal abuse of any official, opponent, spectator or other person
- audible and visible obscenity
- unreasonable delay
- receiving coaching during a match when not permitted
- not using best efforts
- unsportsmanlike conduct (for example visible taunting, loud shouting at the opponent after winning a point, intentional bad line calls, refusing to call the score)
- improper attire, leaving the court without permission, and withdrawing or failing to complete a match without a valid reason
- no show and entering two tournaments in the same period without permission
Players are held responsible for inappropriate electronic communications sent from their devices or by their support team, and all participants must also follow the Tennis Canada Sport Safety Code of Conduct and Discipline and Complaints Policy.
