Under the World Squash Singles Rules 2025 (Rule 2):
- Every rally scores a point, whoever served. The winner of the rally serves the next one.
- A game is played to 11 points. At 10-all, play continues until one player is 2 points ahead (e.g. 12-10, 13-11).
- A match is normally best of 5 games, but may be best of 3, depending on the competition.
The marker calls the server's score first, with "hand out" when the serve changes, "Game ball" or "Match ball" when a player needs one point, and "10-all: a player must win by 2 points" the first time it reaches 10-all in each game.
