A player is eligible for a Canadian Championship if they:
- meet Softball Canada's residency rules;
- represent the province or territory where they were registered by the official registration date; and
- are at least 15 years old as of January 1 of the current year, to play in a Men's or Women's Canadian Championship.
Other points:
- You do not have to have played in a provincial or territorial elimination tournament as long as you were eligible to.
- You can only play in elimination tournaments in the province or territory where you were registered by the registration date.
- You may play in more than one fast pitch championship and more than one slo-pitch championship if they are not held at the same time and your province or territory approves.
- An import player cannot play in two separate Canadian Championships in the same year for two different provinces or territories.
- Non-Canadian citizens who have played for another country in a WBSC-sanctioned international event (such as the World Cup, Pan American Championship, World Games, Olympics or Pan Am Games) within the last 5 years are ineligible for Women's, U23 Men's, Men's and Master Men's Canadian Championship play.
Penalty: every game an ineligible player took part in is forfeited, and the team is disqualified from the Canadian Championship. Eligibility protests (except Men's Fast Pitch) must be lodged in writing, signed by the coach or manager, before midnight of day one of the tournament; later ones are dealt with after the championship.
