Players in age-grade events must be under the required age on 31 December 2027 (2027 Australian Championship Regulations, rule 7.1). The eligible years of birth are:

| 2027 Under 16 Nationals | 2011 or later |
| 2027 Under 14 Nationals | 2013 or later |
For example, a player born in 2011 is eligible for Under 16 and Under 18, but a player born in 2010 is eligible for Under 18 only.
