How does scoring work, and how often do we change serve?

Under the Laws of Table Tennis (ITTF Statutes 2026, Laws 2.11 to 2.13):

• A game is won by the first player or pair to 11 points. At 10-all, the game goes on until one side leads by 2 points.
• A match is the best of any odd number of games; the competition sets how many.
• Serve changes after every 2 points. From 10-all, or once the expedite system is in operation, each player serves for 1 point in turn.
• Choice of serving, receiving or end is decided by lot. The winner chooses to serve, receive or start at a particular end, and the other side gets the remaining choice.
• The player or pair who served first in a game receives first in the next game.
