Blue line (Rule 8.4). The ring must be passed, shot, deflected, batted or legally kicked across each blue line. It is the position of the ring, not your skate or stick, that counts. A ring on a blue line is in both zones.
- If you were the last to touch the ring on one side of a blue line and you then control it on the other side before anyone else touches it, play is stopped and the other team gets a free pass.
- If you only contact it on the other side, you and your team cannot contact or control it for five seconds, or until it leaves that zone.
Two blue line pass (Rule 8.5). You cannot pass the ring to a teammate directly from your defending zone to your attacking zone.
- If a teammate controls that ring before an opponent touches it, play is stopped.
- If a teammate only contacts it, your team cannot touch it for five seconds after an opponent contacts or controls it, or before it leaves that zone.
- If an opponent touches the ring first, there is no violation.
