- Players
- Roster: a team must have no more than 18 and no fewer than seven players, all dressed and physically able to play. If you have seven skaters and no goaltender, you start with an acting goaltender (AGK).
- On the ice: no more than six players per team at once (for example five skaters and a goaltender).
- Minimum during the game: once the game has started a team must be able to ice at least four players or it forfeits.
- Timeouts: each team gets one 30-second timeout per game, plus one more for every full-length overtime period. A player on the ice or a team staff member asks an on-ice official during a stoppage in play. Unused timeouts can be taken at any later point, but only one timeout per team is granted on the same stoppage.
