What should I do if I'm unsure of a ruling during my round?

If no referee or Committee member is available in a reasonable time:
Play two balls (stroke play only):
- Decide to play a second ball after the doubtful situation arises and before you make another stroke.
- Announce to your marker or another player which ball you want to count if the Rules allow it. If you don't choose, the ball you played first counts by default.
- Finish the hole with both balls.
- Report the facts to the Committee before you return your scorecard, even if you scored the same with both balls. If you don't, you're disqualified.
The Committee then decides which score counts.
Other points:
- Players can help each other apply the Rules, but you can't settle a Rules issue by agreement; any agreement doesn't bind anyone.
- Raise any Rules issue with the Committee before returning your card.
- If you think another player has breached a Rule and they don't realise it, tell them, their marker or the Committee promptly, before they return their card. Failing to do so can be treated as serious misconduct.
- A second ball under this procedure isn't the same as a provisional ball.
