Rule 25 of the Rules of Golf (2023) modifies certain Rules for players in four categories of disability:
- Players who are blind, including certain levels of vision impairment
- Players who are amputees, including those with limb deficiencies as well as those who have lost a limb
- Players who use assistive mobility devices, such as canes, crutches, wheelchairs and other wheeled devices
- Players with intellectual disabilities
Key points:
- It applies in all competitions and all forms of play, at every level including club golf in South Africa. You don't need a Local Rule for it to apply.
- Your category of disability and eligibility decide which modifications you can use. The Committee running the competition is responsible for player eligibility.
- Other disabilities (for example neurological or orthopaedic conditions, short stature, or deafness) aren't covered, as no need for Rules changes has been identified so far. Players in any category may still use medical equipment under Rule 4.3b.
- The Equipment Rules apply without change, except as set out in their own Section 7.
