Rule 25.4 applies to all assistive mobility devices, including canes, crutches, wheelchairs and other wheeled devices:
- Help from others: any person, including another player, may help position you or your device before the stroke, and you may give a general authorisation for anyone to drop, place and replace your ball.
- Aide: you may have one aide as well as a caddie, and get advice from both. If the aide carries or handles your clubs (other than to help with stance or lining up, or as a courtesy), you're treated as having two caddies: two strokes per hole.
- Stance: your stance includes the position of your device, for example when deciding if you have interference from an abnormal course condition.
- Bracing the device: a reasonable amount of digging in with the device, or positioning it to avoid slipping, is allowed. Building a stance, such as making a mound of sand or soil to brace it, is two strokes.
- Anchoring: if you can't hold and swing most of your clubs without anchoring because you use the device, you may anchor the club without penalty.
- Line of play: you must not make a stroke with any part of the device deliberately placed on each side of, or touching, the line of play or its extension behind the ball.
- In bunkers: you may touch the sand with the device for any purpose except deliberately testing the sand.
- Ball hits the device: if a putt from the green accidentally hits your device, play the ball as it lies.
