What do I need to complete to register with an OPL team?
Rule- Ontario
- Canada
- Ontario Premier League
- League1 Ontario
- Pro-Am soccer
- Open age
- 2026
- Players
Every player, professional or amateur, must be registered in Ontario Soccer's online registration system, and the OPL Registrar verifies the registration (section 4.1 of the 2026 manual). The minimum information is first and last name, address with postal code, phone number, email address, date of birth and the team you are registering to. You also need:
- OPL registration and waiver form, signed by you (by a parent or legal guardian if you are not yet 18 when you sign).
- Rowan's Law Receipt of Review of Concussion Awareness Resources, signed by you (or your guardian if under 18).
- OPL Code of Ethics / Social Media Policy document, signed by you (or your guardian if under 18).
- Headshot photo uploaded to COMET at registration. Registrations without a photo that meets the league's requirements are not approved, so you cannot be added to a match roster.
- Government photo ID on request. The Registrar may ask for a high-resolution image of a passport photo page, driver's licence or similar showing your photo and date of birth, and your registration is terminated if you do not supply it.
- ITC proof, if you were last registered with a foreign national association.
A professional also signs a professional player contract. An amateur may sign a supplemental amateur contract, and cannot be registered to another Ontario Soccer affiliated competitive team in the same season.
