Roster size: each OPL team must have a minimum of 14 and up to 25 players, and at least 2 coaches, registered in both Ontario Soccer's online registration system and the COMET league system. Deadlines to register the minimum players and coaches (2026): March 24 for M-OPL1, W-OPL1, M-OPL2 and W-OPL2; April 7 for M-OPL3, W-OPL3 and the U20 divisions. Roster freeze (no more players can be registered), 2026: July 9 at 5:00 pm for OPL1 and OPL2; June 29 at 5:00 pm for OPL3 and U20 spring/summer; October 13 at 5:00 pm for U20 fall. A player registered to a lower-level team after the freeze is ineligible to be called up for the rest of the season. Processing: registrations received after 12:00 pm Eastern on a Friday are reviewed and approved the following Monday. Match roster: you can only be on a match-day roster if registered in both systems. Match rosters are submitted through COMET and are time-stamped, with no physical signing needed. Substitutions: OPL1, OPL2, OPL3 and League Cup matches allow up to 7 substitutions using a maximum of 5 opportunities (half-time does not count as an opportunity), with no re-entry. The U20 divisions allow 6 during play, unlimited at half-time, with re-entry counted against the 6. Concussion substitute: each team may make one extra permanent concussion substitution per match, in addition to normal substitutions.
