Clubs that qualify for the Canada Soccer Canadian Championship must follow the OPL's roster declaration rules (Appendix O of the 2026 manual), which also point to Canada Soccer's own competition regulations.
- Registration: all players must be registered with the OPL club in COMET and with Canada Soccer through Canada Connect.
- Roster declaration: the club submits a binding declaration of at least 20 and no more than 35 players at least 7 days before its opening match. Players must be registered in Ontario Soccer's system on the club's OPL "A" team or on a lower-level OPL team operated by the club.
- Match rosters: a maximum of 23 players (minimum 18), chosen from the 35, is submitted 48 hours before each match, and a final 20 for the match is submitted 90 minutes before kick-off.
- Canadian players: a Canadian player is a Canadian citizen and/or passport holder. At least 3 Canadian players must be listed as starters, and at least 3 Canadian players born on or after 1 January 2003 (U23) must be on the final roster.
- ID: players need a valid passport, national identity card or Canadian provincial or national driver's licence, or they cannot play. Canada Soccer checks ID for everyone on the 35-player roster.
- One club only: once a player has appeared for a club in the competition, they cannot appear for any other club in it that year.
- Not allowed: players registered to an affiliated organization cannot be on the declaration or be called in, and Temporary Eligibility Permits are not permitted.
