What you need depends on whether you are already registered with Ontario Soccer (Appendix P of the 2026 manual).
Already registered for the 2025-26 indoor or 2026 outdoor season and trialling with a different OPL club:
- Complete an OPL Trial/Tryout form naming the OPL club and team. The inviting club sends it, with proof of your current Ontario Soccer registration, to the OPL League Administrator for approval before you take part.
- You can trial, including in exhibition matches, only while your current registration is valid.
- If another OPL club has already registered you, that club must give written permission and has no obligation to do so.
- There is no fee for an approved form.
- You cannot be on the match-day roster for official OPL competition until you are properly registered to an OPL team.
Not currently registered:
- You complete a Short-Term Registration Permit (STRP), signed by you (or a parent or guardian if under 18) before you take part. It covers trials, exhibition matches outside the OPL schedule, and training only.
- The League Administrator must approve it, it is valid for a maximum of 30 days, and the club pays a $10 administration fee.
- A player registered only with an STRP cannot be on the match-day roster for any official OPL competition.
Players registered via any Temporary Eligibility Permit cannot play in official OPL matches.
