What colour shorts do I wear for my age?
Rule- Australia
- NRL
- Masters Rugby League
- Over 35
- 2011
- Players
Shorts colours show your age group and the level of safe play required:
| Age | Shorts |
|---|---|
| 35 to 49 | White |
| 50 to 59 | White, but red may be worn for extra safety |
| 60 plus | White, but gold may be worn for extra safety |
- You may wear shorts designated for older players if you want less contact and greater safety and enjoyment.
- To avoid accidental over-robust contact, you should not play in shorts designated for a younger age group.
- No other coloured shorts can be worn.
The mode of play differs by colour: red-short players use a grip tackle and gold-short players use a touch tackle only (see the tackling question below).
