Under Rule 12 of the World Lacrosse 2025-2026 Women's Field Rules (published on lacrosse.ca):
- A game is four 15-minute quarters. For domestic games the officials and captains or coaches may agree on a different quarter length.
- Breaks between quarters 1 and 2 and between 3 and 4 may not exceed 2 minutes; half time may not exceed 10 minutes. Teams change ends after quarters 1, 2 and 3.
- The clock stops on all whistles in the last 30 seconds of quarters 1, 2 and 3, the last 2 minutes of quarter 4, and in overtime.
- Each team may request two 90-second time-outs in regulation. None are allowed in overtime.
- A tied game goes to sudden victory overtime after a 2-minute break: stop-clock periods of 4 minutes, each starting with a centre draw, until a goal is scored.
- A game is complete if 80 percent of playing time (48 minutes of 60) has elapsed.
