South African handicaps are run by Handicaps Network Africa (HNA), which moved to a new DotGolf-based system in February 2026. You can submit scores:
- on the HNA Handicaps app (iOS and Android),
- on the website www.handicaps.co.za, or
- through your club's administrator or club system.
You need to activate your account on the new system before your first use.
When: submit your score as soon as possible after your round, before midnight on the day of play. If you submit late:
- your Handicap Index won't be updated in time for the next day, and
- your score won't be included in that day's playing conditions calculation (PCC), though the PCC is still applied to it.
Must every score be submitted? Yes. Every acceptable score from an authorised format, including social (general play) rounds, must be submitted. If you don't submit one without good reason (forgetting doesn't count), your Handicap Committee can post the actual score or a penalty score. Repeated failures can lead to your Handicap Index being withdrawn.
Your scoring record is open to other members of your club for peer review.
