How do I mark and sign a scorecard in stroke play?

Your marker enters your score for each hole and certifies the hole scores when the round ends. You must then check the scores, raise any issues with the Committee, make sure the marker has certified them, certify the scores yourself and return the card to the Committee promptly.
- Do not change a score entered by your marker unless the marker agrees or the Committee approves.
- Do not change the card after you return it.
- Breaching these requirements means disqualification (no penalty if the marker's failure, such as leaving without certifying, was beyond your control).
Wrong scores:
- A hole score higher than you actually took stands.
- A hole score lower than you actually took, or no score for a hole, means disqualification. The exception is a lower score caused by a penalty stroke you did not know about: you are not disqualified and the Committee adds the penalty if it is found before the competition closes. That exception does not apply if you were told about, or were unsure of, the penalty and did not raise it before returning the card.
- Mistakes in handicap or in adding up the total carry no penalty; the Committee deals with them.
You must also hole out at every hole. If you did not, you must fix it before starting another hole (or, on the last hole, before returning the card), or you are disqualified. (Rules 3.3b and 3.3c)
