England Squash follows the rules set by World Squash. Under Rule 2 of the World Squash Singles Rules (2025):
- Every rally scores a point, whoever served. The winner of the rally scores 1 point and serves the next rally.
- Each game is played to 11 points (often called PAR 11).
- At 10-all, the game continues until one player leads by 2 points (12-10, 13-11 and so on).
- A match is normally the best of 5 games (first to 3), but may be the best of 3 (first to 2). The competition organiser decides which.
The score is called with the server's score first, and "hand out" is called when the serve changes to the other player.
