Acceptable scores come from individual stroke play formats (medal, Stableford, par/bogey), in competitions or general play, as long as:
- the round was pre-registered before you started
- you played under the Rules of Golf
- your score was attested by a marker who played with you
- you played a complete 9 or 18 holes on a rated course (or at least 10 holes of an 18-hole round, if you stopped for a valid reason).
This includes rounds in society events, roll-ups, open competitions and abroad. Scores from other countries must be returned to your home club.
Four-ball stroke play can count in some cases. Your individual score is used only if:
- the team's net score is 6 or more better than par (at least 6 under, or 42 points)
- your score counted for the team on at least 9 holes, and
- your own 18-hole score is 36 Stableford points or better.
Not acceptable:
- team competition scores (other than the four-ball case above), such as scrambles
- rounds of fewer than 9 holes
- general play rounds when your club is using Model Local Rule E-5 (the alternative to stroke and distance).
