The CGL 2025/26 playing conditions (all formats) say:
- Batting against fast bowling: every batter, of any age or ability, must wear a helmet. A bowler counts as fast if the wicket-keeper is not standing up to the stumps.
- Batting against spin: players aged 19 and older may bat without a helmet. Batters under 19 must wear a helmet at all times.
- Wicket-keeping: every wicket-keeper must wear a helmet when standing up to the stumps.
- Close fielders: players fielding close to the batter must wear a helmet.
Under the CGL By-laws, players under 18 must wear a helmet with a faceguard when batting or keeping wicket standing up, and parental consent to play without one is not accepted.
