The CGL Code of Conduct has four levels:
| Level | Examples | Sanction |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Dissent at an umpire's decision; obscene language or gesture; abusing equipment or fixtures; excessive appealing or time-wasting after a warning; aggressively pointing towards the pavilion after a dismissal | At least an official reprimand, at most a 1-match suspension |
| 2 | Serious dissent; public or social media criticism of a match incident or official; deliberate physical contact; charging at an umpire; throwing the ball dangerously at a player; playing over-age, under-age or unregistered players; playing for two clubs without CGL permission; serious or repeated slow over rates (captain) | 2 to 4 matches |
| 3 | Intimidating an umpire or match referee; threatening to assault another participant; racial, religious or similar vilification; ball tampering | 4 to 8 matches |
| 4 | Physical assault or any act of violence; threatening or assaulting an umpire or match referee; serious vilification based on race, religion, gender, colour, descent or national or ethnic origin | 10 matches up to a life ban |
The panel may suspend part of a sanction. If you've been found guilty of the same or a similar offence in the previous 24 months, the panel may apply the next level's penalty. A captain with more than two disciplinary actions in a season can also be moved up a level.
Suspensions apply to the next regulated matches after the finding.
