Under the CGL Rules and Code of Conduct:
- Report: the umpires, match referee, either team manager, either captain or a club president or chairman can report you. On-field reports must reach the Club Administrator by 18:00 on the day after the match.
- Decision to hold a hearing: the Convener decides whether there is a case to answer, normally within 3 days of receiving the report.
- Suspension before the hearing: once you receive a Disciplinary Notice, you're suspended from the next regulated match before the hearing. If you're found guilty, the panel takes that match into account in the sanction.
- Plea bargain: the Convener may offer a lighter, standardised sanction if you plead guilty without a hearing.
- Hearing: it must start within 21 days of the day of the incident. A panel of at least 3 commissioners hears it. You may attend, give evidence, call witnesses and be represented by your captain, team manager or a fellow player. The hearing can go ahead without you if you were notified and don't attend.
- Ruling: the panel sends its ruling within 5 working days.
Appeal: send written notice of appeal, with your grounds, to the Convener within 72 hours of being told the decision. The sanction is suspended while the appeal is pending. The Appeal Board can dismiss the appeal, change the finding or increase the penalty, and its decision is final.
If you represent any CSA affiliate, the panel can also rule you ineligible for selection until your sanction is served.
