Basketball Australia runs classification as a pathway with three levels, and the level you need depends on where you are on the Wheelchair Basketball Pathway. To start, complete the "Request for Classification" form linked on australia.basketball/wheelchair-basketball/classification/players.
- Provisional Classification: a paperwork process run by trained classifiers. It suits athletes just starting out or without access to a face-to-face panel.
- National Classification: a face-to-face evaluation by trained classifiers, managed by Basketball Australia and usually held at National Wheelchair Basketball events. National outcomes supersede Provisional outcomes.
- International Classification: managed by the Basketball Australia High Performance program. You must be in a Basketball Australia National Squad and nominated by Basketball Australia. International outcomes supersede National and Provisional outcomes.
