- You must be registered in PlayHQ for your state or territory team.
- You must be classified by the National Chief Classifier before the Open starts. If you have a provisional classification, it must be finalised on the first day of play by the on site classifier.
- To play for a state or territory you must be registered to play in a league affiliated in that state or territory or, if not registered, permanently live there. You cannot play for more than one team while the Open is in progress.
The Open is governed by the AFL and provides footballers with a physical disability the opportunity to play Australian football at an elite level. Each team also needs a head coach and assistant coach who have completed the All Play coaching modules, a team manager, a first aider and two water carriers.
