How do disposals and scoring differ from running Australian football?

The Open follows the Laws of Australian Football with adaptations.
Disposal
- There is no kicking. A handball is equivalent to a kick (the umpire can approve an exception if you lack the mobility to complete a handball), and a single-handed underarm throw is equivalent to a handball.
- When throwing, your arm must stay under shoulder height.
- A double-handed pass (chest, rugby or flick pass) and handing the ball to another player are illegal disposals.
Marks: a mark is paid for a handball that has travelled at least three metres without being touched in transit.
Scoring
- Only forwards can score. A goal is scored when a forward handballs the ball completely over the goal line without another player touching it, even if it first touches the ground.
- A behind is scored if the ball passes completely over the behind line, or touches or passes over a goal post.
- A set shot must be taken within 15 seconds of the umpire setting the mark, or play on is called.
- A defender or centre who handpasses to a forward and the ball crosses the goal or behind line scores nothing, and the defending team restarts from the goal square.
Mercy rule: when a team leads by 50 points or more, a point by the leader means the trailing team kicks out from the half back line. A goal by the leader means the trailing team takes possession in the centre circle with no ball up. The rule switches off if the margin falls below 50.
