What gear does my child need for Majors?

Most leagues supply the team jersey, cap and shoulder patch, and many supply team bats, batting helmets and catcher's gear. Families usually buy:

• a glove that fits
• cleats with molded rubber spikes. Metal spikes aren't allowed in Majors.
• baseball pants, belt and socks in the team colors
• an athletic supporter for boys. Catchers must wear a protective cup.
• a batting helmet, if your child wants their own. It must be NOCSAE approved, and batters must wear one at practice as well as in games.

Players must wear a cap or visor in games. Catchers must wear a catcher's helmet with face mask and throat guard, a chest protector, shin guards and a catcher's mitt.
