How many pitches can my child throw, and how much rest do they need?
Rule- USA
- Little League Baseball
- Major Division
- League age 9-12
- 12 and under
- Regular season
- 2026 rules
- Parents
The daily limit depends on league age:
| League age | Pitches per day |
|---|---|
| 9-10 | 75 |
| 11-12 | 85 |
Rest depends on how many pitches they threw that day:
| Pitches | Calendar days of rest |
|---|---|
| 1-20 | 0 |
| 21-35 | 1 |
| 36-50 | 2 |
| 51-65 | 3 |
| 66 or more | 4 |
- A pitcher who hits the daily limit mid at-bat may finish that batter, but can't start a new one.
- The rest threshold is set by the pitch count at the first pitch to their last batter.
- A player may never pitch on three consecutive days.
Tell your child's manager if they pitch for any other team or program, so the manager can keep them within safe limits.
