WCL Canadian Championships use a double-elimination bracket, with each weight class wrestled to completion in one day. A first loss sends an athlete to the consolation rounds (towards third place) and a second loss eliminates them. If a weight class has five or fewer competitors, a single round robin is used instead, where every athlete wrestles every other athlete.
For the Canadian age categories (U15, U17, U19) the draw is completed after the weigh-ins finish. The top three wrestlers in each weight category receive a medal. The format at other WCL sanctioned events is set in each event's technical package.
