WA Football's Equal Opportunity and Fair Play policy requires:
- Every player named in a match plays at least 60% of the game (for the first game they play that weekend).
- Equal game time across the season, and an equal chance to play in a variety of positions.
- Coaches use every place in the team, including bench spaces, and rotate excess players off so nobody misses multiple matches in a row without a valid reason such as injury or discipline.
- Coaches avoid overplaying the most talented players.
- Game time is tracked on the Rookie Me Play app.
- Teams must have equal numbers on the field. In Years 3-6, if one team is short, the larger team lends players ("even-up"), and no lent player plays more than one quarter.
Girls can play in mixed teams up to and including Year 9, though single-sex competitions are preferred where teams can be arranged. If you think the policy is being breached, raise it through your Team Manager or Club; breaches can lead to fines, loss of points or a forfeit.
