USA Swimming's recognized events for 10 and under (Article 102.1.2) are:
- Freestyle: 50, 100, 200, 400 meters / 500 yards
- Backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly: 50, 100
- Individual medley: 100, 200
- Relays: 200 freestyle, 200 medley, and mixed 200 freestyle and medley relays
Development meets for 12 and under swimmers may also offer 25s of each stroke, the 50 and 100 free, the 100 IM, and 100 or 200 relays (102.1.3).
Each meet picks its events from these lists and publishes them, along with any qualifying time standards, in its meet announcement.
