What happens if my child arrives late for a tournament match?

The player is responsible for being dressed and ready when the match is called. Under Tennis Canada's Tournament Regulations (Rules of the Court 2026), the lateness penalty is:

• 5:00 or less late: loss of the toss plus 1 game
• 5:01 to 10:00 late: loss of the toss plus 2 games
• 10:01 to 15:00 late: loss of the toss plus 3 games
• more than 15:00 late: default

A player is ready once they have checked in at the Tournament Desk, are properly clothed and equipped, and go to the court without delay. The Referee never assesses more than a 3-game penalty for lateness, except for a default.
