What happens if my child gets stuck on a stage?

Swim England's guidance allows some flexibility:

• If a child keeps struggling, the teacher may move them up to the next group, but the child must keep working on the outcomes they haven't completed. They are not given the stage award until every outcome is achieved.
• Swim England also offers awards that recognise completing particular skills within a stage, to keep children motivated while they work on the rest.

Teachers check that a skill can be done consistently (more than once) before signing off an outcome.
