Skate Canada's CanSkate minimum delivery standards describe four parts:
- Warm-up: full ice or fast track, skating forwards and backwards in both directions.
- Lesson time: at least 30 minutes, in rotations of three learning or review stations, each using about one-third of the ice. One station must include the Challenge Zone.
- Group activity: full ice, skill and speed development.
- Cool-down: full ice, moving stretches to lower the heart rate.
At least 90% of skaters should be moving throughout the session, and music must be age-appropriate.
