Under the Scottish Youth FA Child Wellbeing and Protection Policy, nobody who has a concern about a child, or about an adult's conduct towards a child, should keep it to themselves or try to deal with it alone.
- If a child is in immediate danger: make them safe, contact the police straight away, then tell the club's Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer (CWPO) that you have done so.
- Any other concern: tell the club CWPO on the day it arises, or as soon as possible after that. It is not your job to investigate.
- When a child tells you something: stay calm, listen, take it seriously and don't promise to keep it secret. Write down what was said, in the child's own words if you can, with the date, time and place.
- Clubs can also get advice from the SYFA Child Wellbeing and Protection Officer on 07946 051631 or syfachildwellbeing@scottish-football.com.
This applies whether the concern comes from football or from outside it, for example at home.
