A student-athlete is eligible for RSEQ school activities if all of these apply:
- they have not obtained their high school diploma;
- they are a full-time student at the elementary or secondary school where they are registered, under that school's or school board's full-time attendance criteria;
- they represent the school they attend when the activity takes place; and
- they respect the sport-specific and league regulations.
Challenges: an objection to a player's eligibility must be made in writing to the league commissioner or championship coordinator. In the regular season it is verified within 2 business days of receiving the letter; at a provincial championship, playoff series or elimination tournament, within 30 minutes of the end of the game. Challenges cost $50, refunded if the challenge is valid. A school found to have registered an ineligible participant is sanctioned under Appendix 3 of the rules (forfeits). Once the regular season ends, no objections can be filed for regular-season situations that would need a retroactive action.
