Under the Official Rules and Case Book of Ringette (2025-2027), Section 5, a skater must wear:
- Helmet: a CSA-certified hockey helmet with the chin strap fastened.
- Facial protector: a CSA-certified Type A or Type B.
- Neck protector: a BNQ-approved neck protector (all players).
- Gloves: fully covering the hands, with two layers of material on the back and protective padding between them. Palmless gloves and gloves that expose the underside of the wrist are not allowed; mittens are not allowed.
- Pads: knee, shin and elbow pads, with a hard-shell knee protector. Players in U19 and younger age groups must wear shoulder pads designed for ice sports.
- Pelvic protection: hip, tailbone and genital protection.
- Skates: ice skates. Speed skates, figure skates, or skates with blades extending past the heel or toe of the boot are not allowed.
- Stick: a ringette stick (not a goalie stick). Its maximum length depends on height: standing on skates with the arm extended at 90 degrees to the body, the stick reaches from the ice to the underarm at most. Ringette Canada does not approve stick models; sticks must meet Section 5 of the rule book.
Protective equipment other than gloves, helmet, facial protector and neck protector must be worn entirely under the uniform. Ringette Canada's equipment page warns to check that helmets are CSA-certified, not expired or modified, because counterfeit CSA labels are increasing.
