For parents of Pony Club Australia members of all ages, using the National Gear Rules effective 1 January 2026. Covers gear checks, helmets, body protectors, boots and clothing, whips, jewellery and phones, and gear exemptions.
Gear check is the first thing that happens at any Pony Club rally, muster or event. Riders assemble at their designated place as soon as they are saddled and ready, and must stay until a club official has approved all their gear for safety, fit and compliance.

Not without approval. Gear that is not included in the National Gear Rules cannot be used. If your child wants gear listed as "not permitted", or gear that is too new to be in the rule book, you must submit a Gear Exemption Form (https://form.jotform.com/PonyClubAust/GearExemptionForm). Exemptions may be granted in exceptional circumstances and clear reasons are required.
