Who runs Region and State carnivals now that Little Athletics NSW is part of NSW Athletics, and which rules apply?

NSW Athletics was launched in June 2026, bringing Little Athletics and athletics in NSW under a single affiliation structure, a single membership model and a single championship and event pathway. The Rules of Competition 2026-27 (revised July 2026) now refer to NSW Athletics instead of LANSW and ANSW.

Where the Rules of Competition apply:

• Weekly club activities (as guidelines)
• All Zone and Region Championships, for all age groups
• The NSW Athletics State Championships for the 9s, 10s, 11s and 12s (Under 9 to Under 12)
• The NSW Combined Events carnival in March

State Championships for the 13s and above (such as the NSW Junior Championships and NSW Relay Championships) are run under World Athletics rules (World Para Athletics where relevant) with modifications set out in the Technical Regulations for each competition on the NSW Athletics website. Where there is doubt about the application or interpretation of the Rules of Competition, the benefit of the doubt goes to the athlete.
