What safety gear does my child need?

Little League's safety code applies to Challenger players too:
- Batters must wear a NOCSAE-approved batting helmet at practice as well as in games. Helmets must not be repainted or taped, and add-ons such as C-flaps need the helmet maker's written approval.
- Catchers wear a catcher's helmet with face mask and throat guard, chest protector and shin guards. Male catchers must wear a cup.
- Players must not wear jewelry that could cause injury. Medical alert jewelry is allowed.
- If your child wears glasses, Little League encourages safety glasses.
