How do I apply for KidSport, and how long does it take?

1. Check your child is eligible.
2. Find an approved KidSport club using the "Find a KidSport club" page. If your club isn't approved, it can check its eligibility and register with KidSport.
3. Apply online through the KidSport application form. Applications are open all year, and new funding rounds start on 1 July. The 2026/27 round runs from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027.

If you don't have internet access, email kidsport@cits.wa.gov.au or kidsport@dlgsc.wa.gov.au (both addresses appear on KidSport pages) to request a hard copy application. Phone: (08) 9492 9911.

What you need: a photo of your child's current (unexpired) Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, showing the child's name and individual Centrelink Client Reference Number (CRN), a valid email address (vouchers are sent by email), and optionally a mobile number to receive the voucher by SMS.

Timing. Assessment usually takes 10 to 15 business days, and can take longer in the peak season from January to May. Apply early enough for the voucher to be processed before the season starts. If approved, KidSport emails the voucher with a unique code.
