Hookin2Hockey is Hockey Australia's junior entry program, and the next step is a local junior hockey club.
- Junior hockey is played in every state and territory for children aged 5 to 18, and it is the competitive stage where players build technical and tactical skills.
- When it runs: most junior competitions are played in winter (school terms two and three). Grades and levels of competition differ in each state and territory.
- Stick: many clubs let new junior players borrow a stick, so a child without their own can still start.
- Finding a club: the Hookin2Hockey Program Finder at https://www.hockey.org.au/hookin2hockey/club-finder lists clubs and associations, including many junior hockey clubs.
- Watching higher-level hockey: children under 12 go free to Hockey One and NT Stingers match days, which gives Hookin2Hockey kids local teams to follow.
