It is built on five principles: fun, fitness, fundamentals, friendships and forever. It aims not to require or encourage early identification, selection or specialisation of gymnasts.
GfA programs in the 2026 technical regulations:
- KinderGym: children aged 0 to 5 years (with caregivers)
- FreeG: obstacle-course style freestyle gymnastics; national divisions from 6 years
- TeamGym: teams of 6 to 12 performing on three apparatus
- Performance: group performances for participants of all ages, levels and gymsports, with no Code of Points
Gymnastics Australia's programs page also lists GymAbility, Fitter For Life Gymnastics, Special Olympics and FreeG.
