Bee Netball is England Netball's programme for children aged 5 to 11. It introduces throwing, catching, footwork and shooting, and puts personal development first ("child first, netballer second").
It has three stages, matched to school years:
| Stage | Age | School years | What it looks like |
|---|---|---|---|
| Buzzers | 5-7 | Years 1-2 | Fun, co-operative games that build movement skills |
| Fliers | 7-9 | Years 3-4 | 4-a-side games with no fixed positions |
| Stingers | 9-11 | Years 5-6 | 5-a-side games using positions GS, GA, C, GD and GK |
England Netball's framework adds a Stage 4 (Year 7, around age 11-12). That's where children move to 5 v 5, 6 v 6 and then 7 v 7, and begin to choose a preferred position. Children develop at different rates, so some move through the stages a little earlier or later.
