Fouls penalised with a direct free kick are accumulated for each team, separately in each period, and recorded in the match report. A team's fifth accumulated foul in a period is signalled by the officials.
From the sixth accumulated foul in a period, and for every later one, the opponents get a direct free kick without a wall (a "DFKSAF"):
- The ball is placed on the 10m mark, or, if the foul happened between the defending end line and an imaginary line 10m from it, the kicker may choose that spot instead.
- The kicker must try to score, and the defending goalkeeper must be at least 5m from the ball until it is kicked.
- The defending team may not form a wall.
- If the sixth or later foul is inside the offender's own penalty area, a penalty kick is awarded instead.
Accumulated fouls from the second period carry into extra time, if it is played.
