All athletes come to bat during their team's half inning, and the half inning ends when every athlete has had a turn.
- Three hitting formats: batting tee, coach pitcher or pitching machine. Each player can choose the format, with coach discretion, depending on their development stage, and all three can be used in the same game.
- Five balls: each batter has a maximum of five baseballs to hit. If the ball is not hit, a coach rolls the ball so the batter can run the bases and the defence can field and make plays.
- Last batter: when the last batter of the inning hits the ball, it must be thrown to home plate to get the batter out.
- No walks, no strikeouts, no stealing: runners can only advance on batted balls.
- Order changes: the batting order changes each time a team comes to bat (first batter becomes last), and defensive positions change too.
